East Bengal coach Manolo Diaz stated that his side committed 'big mistakes' in the 3-0 derby defeat on Saturday against ATK Mohun Bagan.

The Red and Golds conceded thrice in a span of just 11 minutes as Roy Krishna (12'), Manvir Singh (14') and Liston Colaco (23') were the scorers on the evening.

What Manolo Diaz had to say?

The former Real Madrid B team coach acknowledged the quality of their opponents who prevented East Bengal from playing their game.

"There was a very good team in front of us and we had a lot of difficulties playing the way we wanted to. We made big mistakes," he said.

'The real situation'

It's just the second game for the new look East Bengal side in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) after the 1-1 draw against Jamshedpur last weekend.

"The competition is what it is and we play again in three days. We must give our best in the next match," Diaz remarked ahead of his team's next game against Odisha on Tuesday.

It's been nearly three years since East Bengal's last won a Kolkata derby and Diaz said that he understands the pain of the supporters but gulf in quality between the two teams was evident.

"We understand the feelings of the fans but at the moment the real situation is that there is a big difference between ATK Mohun Bagan and East Bengal."
