Commentary

That's all from us, we hope you enjoyed the game! Until the next one, bye for now.
Three massive points send Inter sky-rocketing up the table from the lows of seventh to the highs of fourth, back in the Champions League qualification places (for now). They've just four points behind Lazio in second, who miss out on the chance to delay Napoli's title confirmation - the league leaders can now win Serie A against Salernitana at the Stadio Diego Armanda Maradona later today!
While Martinez will take most of the plaudits for his two goals - coming from a total of six attempts yielding a total xG of 1.39. However, Romelu Lukaku's work in the final third was immense, setting up both the equaliser for Martinez and Gosens' flying volley to turn the game around. Those assists were two of five big chances the Belgian created, as well as completing five touches in the box and 16 final-third passes. Engaging in 12 total duels, Lukaku won seven, including four in the air and two of four dribbles. Combo.
What a result for the Nerazzurri! 1-0 down in the second half and staring a sixth defeat in eight in the face, the introduction of Lautaro Martinez changed their fortunes in the latter stages. He latched onto a clever ball from Lukaku to scythe home the equaliser, and the Belgian again turned provider for Robin Gosens to volley Inter into the lead inside the last 10 minutes. Martinez popped up again to punish an error from Vecino, making the scores 3-1 with injury time looming to complete a remarkable Nerazzurri comeback! Lazio had their chances earlier in the half, but as soon as the hosts equalised, it was one-way traffic towards victory for Inter who climb to fourth in the table.
90' + 8' FULL-TIME: INTER 3-1 LAZIO.
A. Romagnoli
Yellow Card
90' + 8' Inter break up a late Lazio attack and with the final whistle yet to blow, Dumfries sets off on the counter. He bursts past Romagnoli but is clipped late with a poor challenge, and the Lazio defender is shown a yellow card moments prior to the referee blowing for full-time.
90' + 7' Lazio keep the ball in the final third as the clock ticks beyond the allocated time, and Anderson tees up Pedro to fire a late left-footed effort a yard wide of the far post!
90' + 5' Martinez has had five shots in the 35 minutes he's played since coming on, doing so for the first time since facing Monza in Inter's most recent league loss - though he did so in that game without scoring, let alone twice!
90' + 3' SAVED!!! Alberto latches onto Pellegrini's pass into the box and lays the ball off to Pedro, whose low first-time strike is saved well by Onana before Dimarco clears!
90' + 3' Lukaku drives down the right before cutting inside and looking for Dumfries. The Belgian's throughball is deflected back into his path, and he fires a 25-yard shot straight into Provedel's gloves!
90' + 1' We're into SIX additional minutes at San Siro, but with the way this second half as gone, you wouldn't imagine Lazio will be able to claw anything back from here!
Lautaro Martínez
Goal
90' GOOOOAAAALLL!!! Martinez rounds off the comeback!!! Vecino's back-pass is aimed at no-one in particular, and Martinez gladly latches onto the loose ball. Bearing down on goal, his initial shot is saved by Provedel, but the ball ricochets back into the Argentine's path and Martinez slots it into the empty net. 3-1 to Inter, and the Nerazzurri will claim the points after completing a remarkable late turnaround!
89' Alberto's cross is fizzed in low from the free-kick, but Onana commands his box well to claim the ball before anyone can prod it goalwards.
88' Lazzari knocks the ball past Barella and races in behind the midfielder, but is shunted to the floor to give Lazio a late free-kick from out wide.
M. Lazzari
E. Hysaj
86' Hysaj is also withdrawn, with Manuel Lazzari coming on to replace the starting Lazio left-back.
L. Pellegrini
A. Marušić
86' Lazio also make changes of their own, as recently booked right-back Marusic comes off for Luca Pellegrini.
S. de Vrij
R. Gosens
86' Gosens was injured in the act of scoring that goal, and Stefan de Vrij comes on for the German to bolster Inter's defence.
Luis Alberto
Yellow Card
83' Yellow Card Luis Alberto Romero Alconchel
R. Lukaku
Assist
83' What. A. Ball from Lukaku, and the vision he showed there to pick out Gosens was absolutely spellbinding. He's certainly much more than a goal poacher these days!
R. Gosens
Goal
83' GOOOOAAAALLL!! They've turned it around!!! The San Siro rises as Lukaku has the ball on the edge of the box. Urged to shoot, he instead floats the ball to the back post, where Gosens arrive very late to leap and volley into the back of the net! He and Provedel clattered into one another as he struck goalwards, but Inter won't care as they now lead 2-1!
A. Marušić
Yellow Card
81' The Nerazzurri counter after breaking up a promising Lazio attack, and Lukaku has it on the left. He knocks the ball past Marusic, but is brought to ground as the two give chase and the full-back is shown a yellow card.
80' Another Dimarco cross tests the Lazio defence, but Martinez can get neither power nor direction on his header to send it goalwards!
79' Lazio concede their first goal in six away league games, while Martinez gets his 16th of the season in Serie A - becoming the third Inter player to score more than 15 goals in at least three consecutive Serie A seasons since 1968, after Christian Vieri and Mauro Icardi.
R. Lukaku
Assist
77' The play there from Lukaku was just superb, and his strength has continually caused Lazio's defence problems leading up to that all-important equaliser.
Lautaro Martínez
Goal
77' GOOOOOAAAALLL!!!! Inter finally get their equaliser!! Gosens slides in to knock the ball forward for Lukaku, who continues his superb hold-up play and turns on the edge of the box. He slips it through to Martinez, who slides in to crash the ball beyond Provedel and into the bottom corner! 1-1 as we approach the last 10 minutes, and this game is anyone's to win from here!
75' WIDE!!! Dimarco whips another teasing ball into the area, but Lukaku's glancing header flashes wide of the far post!
74' Dumfries and Calhanoglu combine in the box for the latter to tee up Martinez, but Casale is there again to block his first-time shot away from danger!
72' CHANCE!!! Darmian's long pass into the box is chased hard by Martinez, who drives into the box with the ball at his feet. However, Casale stays with him and prevents a shot, before stepping in with a well-timed tackle to win the ball cleanly!
R. Gosens
A. Bastoni
71' Bastoni is the next player off for Inter, and another wing-back in the form of Robin Gosens enters the field, leaving Inter's back-line with only one natural centre-back!
70' Zaccagni latches onto a loose ball and steps inside before shooting, but his 20-yard effort is blocked by Bastoni!
69' Lukaku's knock-down from Dimarco's lob drops kindly for Calhanoglu, but his half-volley skews high and wide of the target before going behind for a goal kick.
Pedro
C. Immobile
68' Immobile comes off having been somewhat of a passenger in the second half so far, and the introduction of Pedro will see him occupy the right flank as Anderson moves into the central role.
66' CHANCE!!! Lukaku finds himself in space on the right and fires a low cross to the far post, where Dumfries is unmarked but can't get his shot on target! Brozovic follows in with a shot that is deflected away, as another glorious chance goes begging for Inter!
65' SAVED!!! A cross-field pass into the area is brought down skilfully by Calhanoglu, who stands up his marker before finding Dimarco. His first-time shot is blasted low and hard, but Provedel gets down quickly to tip the ball around the outside of his left post!
64' Lukaku shrugs off the challenge of Casale and fires a low cross into the box. The ball takes a deflection, and Provedel can't keep it in play as Inter win a corner!
A. Bastoni
Yellow Card
62' Bastoni is closed down quickly by two Biancocelesti players and is quickly dispossessed by Milinkovic-Savic. Anderson races away with the ball but is pulled back by the Inter defender, who is shown a yellow card for the foul.
H. Çalhanoğlu
H. Mkhitaryan
61' A like-for-like replacement is also made in midfield, as Hakan Calhanoglu comes on for Mkhitaryan.
Lautaro Martínez
J. Correa
61' Further changes come up front for Inter, as Lautaro Martinez enters the fray in place of Correa.
60' SAVED!! Alberto plays a one-two from the corner with his eventual cross headed clear by Dumfries. Back come Lazio though, and Anderson cuts the ball back for Alberto to fire goalwards, but Onana parries the ball away!
59' Alberto curls a wide Lazio free-kick into the area, but it's Lukaku who climbs above the rest to nod the ball behind for a corner!
57' Dumfries surges down the right and beats Hysaj to cross from Acerbi's long pass forward. His cross finds Dimarco, but the ball doesn't sit up well for the wing-back and he sends a meek shot into Provedel's gloves!
55' WIDE!!! So very close for Inter. Dimarco whips another low across into the area, which Barella meets on the volley. The ball heads goalwards off the outside of his right boot, but creeps agonisingly wide of the far post! What an equaliser that would've been!
53' Mkhitaryan presses with intent to win the ball back high up the field, and Dimarco plays in Correa down the left. He's got plenty of options in the box to aim at, but woefully miscues his left-footed cross and can only send the ball into the advertising boards behind the goal!
52' Brozovic has shooting space but tees Dimarco up to cross. The ball is fizzed in at speed but evades both Lukaku and Dumfries at the far post, and Barella is unable to keep the ball in play!
M. Vecino
D. Cataldi
50' Cataldi intervenes with a crucial block to prevent Barella from shooting inside the box, but he's been carrying a knock for a few minutes now and Matias Vecino comes on to replace the Lazio regista.
49' Lazio have stopped the opposition from scoring a first-half goal in 26 of their 32 league games, more than any other side in Serie A this season.
47' Dimarco whips an early free-kick into Lazio's box, and it's flicked on by Bastoni, but evades Dumfries at the back post and goes behind for a goal kick.
46' Lukaku gets the second half underway for Inter, and we're back underway at the San Siro!
D. Dumfries
D. D'Ambrosio
46' Inter make one change at the break, as Denzel Dumfries comes on for booked Nerazzurri captain D'Ambrosio.
The teams return for the second half, and can Inter find that crucial goal that was taken away from them in the first?
Barella was everywhere in midfield for Inter as they chased an equaliser, going very close to scoring it himself with a brilliantly struck half-volley. He's completed 14 final-third passes, creating three chances in the process, and has won two of his three duels, also winning possession twice and gaining two free-kicks for his side. Verve.
The half-time whistle goes, with a previously dominant Inter lucky to only be 1-0 down at the break! The Nerazzurri started firmly on the front foot testing Provedel through shots from Brozovic, Dimarco and Mkhitaryan before the latter finished off an exquisite move to score what appeared to be the opener. A heavily delayed offside decision denied Inter though, and Lazio more than made up for their let-off, going up the other end to score just minutes later after Anderson capitalised on Acerbi's effort. Mkhitaryan and Barella both went close to notching an equaliser, before Onana was called into action at the other end to deny Immobile and Romagnoli in first-half stoppage time!
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: INTER 0-1 LAZIO.
45' + 1' SAVED AGAIN!!! Alberto's corner from the right finds Romagnoli in the centre of the box, but he can't get a clean enough connection on his header and Onana holds the ball from point-blank range!
45' + 1' SAVED!!!! Lazio go oh so close to making it two!! Acerbi is again dispossessed and Immobile races clear with the ball, with his low shot into the far corner parried brilliantly by Onana! Anderson arrives to tap in the rebound, but the ball takes a deflection and bounces over the bar!
45' We'll play one additional minute at the end of the first half, as Inter push for a late equaliser.
44' Lukaku shows great strength and skill to bring down and keep a long ball into the Lazio box. He clips the ball to the back post with Dimarco arriving, but the cross is overhit and sails behind for a goal kick.
43' Inter have lost each of their last three Serie A home games without scoring a single goal - never in their history have they suffered more consecutive home defeats in a single season in the competition.
41' Anderson glides through midfield and puts Immobile through on goal with a ball in behind. Immobile shoots early and smashes the ball over the crossbar, but play again comes back after he's caught offside for the third time in quick succession.
40' WIDE!!! Brozovic's long cross-field pass has Darmian sprinting after it, but his ball across the face of goal finds no-one. Lazio clear, but back come Inter as Lukaku tees up Barella, who hits a sweet strike on the half volley and misses the bottom corner by inches!
39' Anderson fires a shallow cross into the box which is chested on by Immobile, but the Italy striker is penalised for offside and Inter get the free-kick.
37' OVER!!! Lukaku's flick finds Mkhitaryan on the edge of the box, who plays a one-two with Barella. On receiving the return pass, the Armenian goes for goal, striking a first-time shot which takes a lick of paint off the crossbar at it flashes over!
D. D'Ambrosio
Yellow Card
35' Zaccagni turns in-field and races away from D'Ambrosio, but is taken to ground by the Inter captain with the referee not hesitant to show the defender a yellow card.
34' That opener was the eighth goal scored by Anderson so far in 2022-23, and the fourth time in which he's opened the scoring in league matches. Earlybird.
32' Lazio have avoided defeat in their last 12 matches when scoring the opening goal in Serie A, dating back to early January, whereas Inter haven't won in five games when conceding first, stretching back to the end of the same month against Cremonese.
Luis Alberto
Assist
30' Anderson won the ball from his former Lazio team-mate Acerbi and looked likely to go it alone, but Alberto was on hand to support his winger and teed him up to slot home.
Felipe Anderson
Goal
30' GOOOOAAALLLL!!!! Lazio make Inter pay!! The Biancocelesti are dealt the ultimate kick in proverbial teeth after Acerbi is dispossessed by Anderson. He plays a one-two with Alberto on the edge of the box, before firing a low shot past Onana and into the bottom corner! Inter denied at one end, and within minutes, Lazio strike at the other to take a 1-0 lead!
28' The last nine Serie A meetings between Inter and Lazio have seen four wins apiece – during this period, the same result has not been repeated in consecutive games.
27' It looks as if Correa was the man offside by a whisker, but Inter's players and fans alike will be wondering why that decision wasn't made sooner!
25' BALL IN THE NET!!! Inter think they've scored! D'Ambrosio cuts out a Lazio attack and heads up the field, finding Brozovic in support. He threads a peach of a throughball into Correa's path, who cuts it back for Mkhitaryan to stroke the ball home! The players wheel away to celebrate, but with the game ready to resume, there's a linesman's flag in the air and the goal will not stand!
24' Darmian and Lukaku play a one-two on the edge of the box and the latter crosses into the middle. Correa's underneath it, but can't get any control on his header and sends the ball well over the bar!
22' SAVED!!! A pinpoint kick from the boot of goalkeeper Onana finds Barella on the run down the right flank. He cuts inside and squares for Mkhitaryan on the edge of the box, whose first-time finish sails straight into Provedel's gloves!
M. Zaccagni
Yellow Card
20' Barella turns away from Zaccagni and is caught late by the Lazio wideman, who is shown the first yellow card of the game by the referee.
20' CHANCE!! Good link-up play from Inter as a series of flicks allows Barella to tee up D'Ambrosio. His cross into the middle is missed by everyone and falls to Brozovic, who looks to find D'Ambrosio with a throughball inside the area but the defender can't control it!
18' Bastoni is in an advanced position down the left and fires a cross into the box, but it's massively overhit and doesn't even find grass before going behind for a goal kick!
16' Lazio haven't conceded a single goal in their five away games in Serie A, and have never enjoyed a longer such streak. Only three sides have kept a clean sheet in more consecutive away league games since 1994-95 - Roma (six in 2004), Juventus (six in 2012 and in 2018) and Napoli (six in 2023).
14' Inter switch play to the left and Dimarco whips in another cross, but Provedel again comes out to claim the ball and denies Lukaku once more.
12' Bastoni's long, lofted pass is aimed towards Lukaku running into the box, but Provedel comes out of his goal to claim the bouncing ball for Lazio.
10' A promising cross-field ball from Dimarco is chested down by Barella to Lukaku, but Alberto drops deep to win possession back and Mkhitaryan concedes a free-kick.
9' Zaccagni takes on D'Ambrosio and bursts past the Inter captain, but Darmian recovers at speed and is able to win a free-kick on the edge of huis own box after Zaccagni shoves him in an attempt to keep the ball.
8' SAVED!!! Anderson's short cross to Immobile sits up nicely for the striker, who lashes a half volley at the near post which Onana tips over the bar! A good shot and save to match, but Inter are denied the corner after Immobile is flagged for offside.
7' Inter have won their last three home games against Lazio in Serie A, the same number as they'd managed in eight previous at San Siro.
5' SAVED!!! Brozovic cuts inside and hits a low shot with his left foot. Provedel gets down low to his right to parry the ball away, and is immediately called back into action to deny Dimarco from the rebound!
3' Lazio and Inter have both scored in each of their last six Serie A meetings between the two sides, the joint longest such run in this fixture in the competition.
1' Lazio captain Immobile gets the game underway, and we're off and running in Milan!
The teams head out onto a gloriously bright San Siro pitch, and we're just moments away from kick-off in what could be a decisive day in Serie A!
Prior to last weekend’s 1-0 loss at Torino, Lazio had been on an eight-game unbeaten streak, and won all but one of these games. Joint-top scorers Ciro Immobile and Mattia Zaccagni netted three and two goals respectively over the course of that run, and the pair start up front at the San Siro, joined by Felipe Anderson in the Biancocelesti’s front three.
A barren run in front of goal for Lautaro Martinez coincided with Inter’s six-game winless streak, with the World Cup winner finally breaking his drought to add the third against Empoli. Romelu Lukaku had already netted a brace in the same game, and the Belgian starts ahead of Martinez to partner Joaquin Correa up front.
LAZIO SUBS: Luis Maximiano, Marius Adamonis, Luca Pellegrini, Patric, Matias Vecino, Marcos Antonio, Pedro, Matteo Cancellieri, Luka Romero, Stefan Radu, Manuel Lazzari, Mario Gila, Marco Bertini, Toma Basic.
LAZIO (4-3-3): Ivan Provedel; Adam Marusic, Nicolo Casale, Alessio Romagnoli, Elseid Hysaj; Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Danilo Cataldi, Luis Alberto; Felipe Anderson, Ciro Immobile, Mattia Zaccagni.
INTER SUBS: Samir Handanovic, Alex Cordaz, Denzel Dumfries, Roberto Gagliardini, Stefan de Vrij, Robin Gosens, Edin Dzeko, Lautaro Martinez, Raoul Bellanova, Kristjan Asllani, Hakan Calhanoglu.
INTER (3-5-2): Andre Onana; Danilo D’Ambrosio, Alessandro Bastoni, Francesco Acerbi; Matteo Darmian, Nicolo Barella, Marcelo Brozovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Federico Dimarco; Romelu Lukaku, Joaquin Correa.
Sat a much more positive second in the table, Lazio are still a whopping 17 point behind leaders Napoli with just seven matched left to play. Lazio failing to win this game, having lost 1-0 to Torino last time out, will hand the Partenopei the chance to win their first Scudetto since 1990 in their corresponding fixture with Salernitana.
A rotten spell of form has seen Inter slip quickly down the table, going on a run of no wins in six which included four straight defeats. The reversal of Juventus’ 15-point deduction has also seen them overtake the Nerazzurri, who lie seventh having picked up their first win in seven last time out, 3-0 away at Empoli.
Hello, and welcome to live coverage of this Serie A fixture, as Champions League-chasing Inter host Lazio at the San Siro.
