Atalanta will be disappointed in their performance, failing to score for the first time since October 23. Inter are the first team to qualify for the final four and will face Juventus or Lazio in the semi-finals. Inter host Milan in the league next, while Atalanta will travel to Sassuolo.
Inter were in complete control of the first half but could not find the goal they wanted. Calhanoglu came closest to scoring as he struck the post with a powerful effort from outside the box minutes before the break. Atalanta were disappointing to say the least in the first period as they did not even manage a shot on target. The visitors could not find their rhythm in the first 45 minutes and it was the same story for them in the second period. The home side finally got their breakthrough in the 57th minute as Darmian finished well with his left foot from the edge of the area. The goal was enough for Inter to hold onto and they progress to the semi-finals.
