Atletico Madrid have played their last game before the World Cup break and will return to action on December 30 in LaLiga at home to Elche. Almazan are next in action in the Tercera Division against UD Santa Marta next Sunday at home.

Atletico Madrid are safely through to the second round of the Copa del Rey after defeating Almazan 2-0 at Los Pajaritos. Angel Correa settled Atletico nerves by putting the visitors ahead in the 35th minute, converting a rebound after Joao Felix's strike was saved. Joao Felix got on the scoresheet in the second half to secure the result with a neat run and finish, ensuring that there was no drama in the tie.

Diego Simeone will still not be entirely happy with his side's first-half performance. They were a bit tetchy in the final third until Correa was on spot to score. There will be plenty of chances and he will want them to sign off before the World Cup break with a flourish.

Angel Correa has put Atletico Madrid into a 1-0 lead at the break in their Copa del Rey clash against Almazan. It was a frustrating half for Los Rojiblancos until Correa pounced on a rebound from Joao Felix's strike to convert from close range. Earlier, Koke struck the bar before Marcos Llorente saw an effort saved. It has all been one-way traffic, but Atletico will still need further goals to kill off the tie.

Los Rojiblancos breathe a sigh of relief as Correa turns the ball home after Joao Felix sees his effort saved. Joao Felix is teed up on the edge of the box by Reinildo and he drills his attempt low and hard at the bottom-left corner. Gonzalez makes the save, but the rebound falls kindly for Correa to slot into an empty net.

33' Atletico are struggling for a clinical edge in the final third. The home side are making life difficult in and around the box, but the composure of the visitors has been poor under pressure.

31' Griezmann angles a cross to the back post from the resulting corner that Hermoso can only glance high and wide.

30' SCRAMBLE! It is all hands on deck for Almazan at the back. Llorente tries to force an effort through a crowd of bodies, but his effort is repelled. Molina has space for a strike that he slices away from the target. Eventually, Atletico win a corner, but the home side live to fight another day again.

29' Koke has space to release Joao Felix over the top, but he puts too much on his pass and it speeds off the surface and out for a goal-kick.

13' OFF THE BAR AND LINE! Griezmann makes a burst down the right and sends a cross back to Koke. He takes a touch and curls a strike towards goal that strikes the underside of the bar. There's still a chance for Correa on the line, but Moreno gets there first to head clear.

12' Correa threads a pass through to Joao Felix in the inside-left channel, but he loses out to Checa after cutting back on to his right foot.

11' Griezmann sends a searching ball behind the Almazan defence, but it just evades the late run of Joao Felix and travels out for a goal-kick.

10' OFF THE BAR! Griezmann lifts a free-kick into the box from the left flank that pinballs around the box. Llorente pounces and smashes a half-volley into the ground that loops up over Gonzalez, but it strikes the bar and bounces over.

8' Griezmann latches on to the ball in the Almazan box, but he cannot bring it down under pressure from Anto and the home side clear for now.

5' Reinildo bursts down the left flank and clips a cross into the box. The home side clear as far as Griezmann, who heads towards Correa. The Argentine fires at goal, but Gonzalez makes the stop.

Atletico make four changes to their side from their defeat at the hands of Mallorca last time out. Alvaro Morata and Yannick Carrasco miss out, while Savic and De Paul drop to the bench. Koke, Correa, Hermoso and Joao Felix all come into the side.

Almazan have made three changes to their side from their draw last time out to Mirandes II. Jesus Sanchez, Losilla and Moreno all into the fold as Mateo, Opara and Iraola make way for the hosts.

Atletico do not have the best record in the Copa del Rey of late under Diego Simeone. Last season they were knocked out in the round of 16, and in the previous term they failed to progress beyond the second round. Los Rojiblancos enter the game short of form, failing to win any of their last five matches in all competitions. They will be under pressure as favourites to win by a comfortable margin, but given their issues it might be a problem for Atletico after losing 1-0 to Mallorca last time out.

Almazan will have their eye on springing an upset tonight against Atletico, but the Tercera Division outfit face a massive challenge given the quality of their opponents. Diego Rojas' men are unbeaten in their last five matches, but have won only once. They reside in ninth place in the Tercera Division and can enter the contest with a free hit against an established side. Almazan have nothing to lose.
