Zambia will make their Women's World Cup debut on Saturday when they play Japan at the Waikato Stadium in Group C's assignment.

The Copper Queens are the lowest-ranked team in the competition and will be battling for the top two positions alongside Nadeshiko Japan, Costa Rica, and current leaders Spain to make it to the next stage.

Zambia earned their right to play in the World Cup after finishing within the top four bracket of the 2022 Wafcon that doubled up as the qualifier.

The African nation is ranked 77th in the World and will be playing Japan who have featured in every edition of the prestigious global tournament.

The Asians won the competition in 2011 and reached the 2015 finals but fell against the USA. In the most recent outing held in France, Japan fell in the last 16 and are aiming at performing well in this edition.
