Tottenham Hotspur’s victory over Manchester City generated some conflicting responses after the country’s tourism deal with Spurs.
  1. SA Tourism take the lead

Harry Kane’s opening goal was celebrated…albeit with tongues in cheeks…in some quarters.

“SA Tourism scores against ManCity,” joked @David Mogashoa. “It’s SA Tourism 1-0 City.”

  2. Settle the deal

“SA Tourism should definitely make that Tottenham deal,” wrote @shude_zolile, who appears to have been convinced—based on Spurs’ performance—that the partnership might be a good one for South Africa.

  3. South Africa backed the right horse?

South Africa backed the right horse?

“South Africa’s team Tottenham,” wrote @MphoMoreki. “Doing the Lord’s work.

“Bona, SA Tourism saw something in this team.”

Maybe the SA Tourism board should consider a change of career!

  4. Laughter for Lindiwe

Supporters believe that Lindiwe Sisulu, the Tourism Minister, will be enjoying Spurs’ performance against Pep Guardiola’s side.

  5. Sisulu was right

"Guys you see Lindiwe Sisulu was right," wrote @BennittoLindani. "Tottenham deserve our department of touring millions."

Do you agree with this assessment?

  6. Themba will be enjoying this

Khumalo, the boss of South Africa’s Tourism Board, is another who, supporters reckon, will have enjoyed Tottenham’s showing.

“Tottenham just scored and Themba Khumalo is on some: ‘I told them, these will bring tourists to SA’,” wrote @Themba_TT.

  7. Spurs make South Africa great

Will Spurs’ performance change South Africa’s tourism rates?

    Kutlwano Masote certainly believes so…

“Spurs making South Africa great,” they wrote. “Now tourists will be flocking to our shores.”
