<p>The 40-year-old former England international has, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/ben-foster-retires-five-games-wrexham-season-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney/blt6c2f7a2e189ec6d1" target="_blank">just five games into the 2023-24 campaign, announced that he is hanging up his gloves</a> once more. That decision has come as a surprise to many, with Foster having <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/ben-foster-how-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-used-whatsapp-group-convince-stay-wrexham/blt1c267b906549d0aa" target="_blank">penned a 12-month contract</a> on the back of helping the Dragons to promotion back into the Football League last season.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Foster has decided to call it a day after struggling for form early on this term, but he will always be fondly remembered at Wrexham. He only made 12 appearances for Wrexham, but one of those saw him save a stoppage-time penalty against National League promotion rivals Notts County. His presence around the Welsh club is credited with helping to raise spirits after <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/ben-foster-wrexham-stunned-louis-lloyd-statement-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney/bltecb08c9a2c9f7d1c" target="_blank">a serious show of intent from Reynolds and fellow co-owner Rob McElhenney</a>.</p>
