Zakhele Lepasa, Bafana Bafana, September 2022
South Africa bounced back to winning ways in style as they hammered the Leone Stars in a one-sided match.

Bafana Bafana secured a well-deserved 4-0 win over Sierra Leone in a friendly game that was played on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Themba Zwane (brace), Mihlali Mayambela, and Aubrey Modiba earned the Southern African giants their maiden win over the Western African side.

GOAL runs the rule over the individual performances of the South African players.

  • Ronwen Williams Bafana

    Ronwen Williams - 7/10

Had little to do defensively, besides one save as he superbly fingertipped Amadou Bakayoko's attempt from a free-kick over the crossbar.

Williams' distribution was good, as always, while dealing well with aerial balls and he was substituted with 11 minutes left.

  • Nyiko Mobbie, Bafana Bafana, August 2021

    Nyiko Mobbie - 6/10

Lively on the right flank and he was solid defensively - containing Augustus Kargbo.

However, Mobbie failed to get adequately involved in their build-up play in Sierra Leone's half.

  • Aubrey Modiba Bafana Bafana v Libya, September 2018

    Aubrey Modiba - 8/10

Very influential on the left flank, playing well both defensively and offensively.

Modiba took up advanced positions high up the pitch at times and he scored the fourth goal after he had positioned himself well in the visitors' box.

  • Dynamo Fredericks of Namibia challenges Innocent Maela of Bafana Bafana, October 2020

    Innocent Maela - 7.5/10

Showed his experience and leadership skills playing alongside his Orlando Pirates teammate Sibisi in defence.

Maela did well to organize the width and depth of their line, while also making some vital interceptions and clearances.

  • Nkosinathi Sibisi, Bafana Bafana, June 2021

    Nkosinathi Sibisi - 7/10

Carried his club form into the international scene.

Sibisi was strong in the tackle and positioned himself well to thwart Sierra Leone's offence - neutralizing Amadou Bakayoko.

  • Sphephelo Sithole of South Africa.

    Sphephelo Sithole - 7/10

Looked composed on the ball and did well to protect Bafana's defence.

Sithole was very solid in the middle, popping up with crunching tackles and interceptions when needed throughout the match.

  • Luke Le Roux, Bafana Bafana, September 2022

    Luke Le Roux - 6.5/10

Caught the eye on his Bafana debut as the most advanced midfielder.

Le Roux was energetic, pressing with intensity and he give the Leone Stars players little time to settle in possession and helped Bafana in transition.

  • Themba Zwane, Bafana Bafana & Mohamed Kamara, Sierra Leone, September 2022

    Themba Zwane - 9/10

Undoubtedly the best player on the pitch as he showed his class.

Zwane was excellent in tight spaces, made passes with excellent accuracy and he took his two goals very well as he marked his return to Bafana with a brace.

  • Mihlali Mayambela of Bafana Bafana.

    Mihlali Mayambela - 7.5/10

Put up eye-catching performance on his debut for the senior national team.

The Leone Stars had no answer to Mayambela's prolific ability on the ball as he beat his markers with ease and he took accurate shots at goal which saw him score the second goal.

  • Zakhele Lepasa, Bafana Zakhele Lepasa, Bafana Bafana & Alex Bangura, Sierra Leone, September 2022& Mohamed Kamara, Sierra Leone, September 2022

    Kgaogelo Sekgota - 7/10

Posed a massive threat to Sierra Leone all day with his movement.

Sekgota's speed and incisive movement unsettled the visitors' defence and he grabbed an assist when Zwane scored the third goal, having delivered a top-notch cross.

  • Zakhele Lepasa, Bafana Bafana & Mohamed Kamara, Sierra Leone, September 2022

    Zakhele Lepasa - 8.5/10

Brilliant on his return to the national team as he led the attack very well and he was very instrumental in how the team was playing.

Lepasa's unpredictable movement, hold-up and combination play caused havoc for the visitors' defence which saw him grab two well-deserved assists.

  • Pule Mmodi, Bafana Bafana, September 2022

    Pule Mmodi - 6/10

Injected some urgency and pace to the Bafana attack when he came on in the 69th minute and was involved in the build-up to the fourth goal.

  • Khanyiso Mayo - 6/10

Came on at the same time as Mmodi and he put in a typical lung-bursting shift, chasing down every ball and not giving Sierra Leone defenders time in possession.

  • Melusi Buthelezi, Bafana Bafana, September 2022

    Melusi Buthelezi - 5/10

Rarely tested between the sticks after replacing Williams in the 79th minute with Bafana dominating possession.

  • Teboho Mokoena, Bafana Bafana, August 2021

    Teboho Mokoena - 6/10

Introduced with 10 minutes left and he helped the hosts keep possession, while also playing some accurate passes.

  • Ashley du Preez, Bafana Bafana, September 2022

    Ashley du Preez - N/A

Did not play enough minutes to warrant a rating having been introduced in the 84th minute.
