Chelsea fans in South Africa and beyond are delighted with what they’ve seen from new arrival Mykhailo Mudryk after he made his debut against Liverpool on Saturday.
The 0-0 draw was a stodgy and tired affair, with both mid-table sides lacking rhythm, but at least the Ukraine wideman—coming on for his debut—gave Blues fans something to celebrate.
The Premier League new boy certainly gave James Milner a tough time at right-back, with the veteran soon replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold.
“BREAKING: Milner has retired from club football after meticulous humiliation by starboy Mudryk,” wrote user @Ressy_an
“Come on,” wrote @Bmusonza. “That was only James Milner he was up against.”
Blues fans @SwitRae was so delirious to see Mudryk in action, he already wants Chelsea to play their next fixture on Sunday in order to see him again.
“Mudryk was incredible to watch,” he wrote after the match. “He made me wish that Chelsea [are] playing again tomorrow. What a performer.”
The Gunners were, of course, in line to sign the starlet before Chelsea gazumped them, and some fans were quick to point out just what a talent Arsenal have missed out on.
“Arsenal would’ve won the Champions League with Mudryk,” writes ZA user @Trudonafelo.
Joao Felix was suspended and not available for the draw with Liverpool, but many fans are excited about what’s going to be happening when the Portugal international is back from his ban and can link up with his new teammate.
“Mudryk and Felix in the same team,” wrote user @LuckyMwiba. “Our opponents are in trouble.”
“Felix and Mudryk will cook,” wrote @kikisometimes. “It’s so scary. LMAO.”
Certainly, Chelsea’s upcoming opponents ought to get very worried about the duo’s potential together.
While Chelsea supporters were delighted with the winger’s cameo, they weren’t too impressed with some of his Blues teammates on the day.
“Fans had convinced their bone marrow that Mudryk was the best thing after sliced bread,” wrote @Bryan1Lux. “To come back from that is hard. The boy was way better than the chickens around him.”
User @jcslimfit2023 agreed. “Imagine,” he began, “the only think Mudryk lacks currently is playmates who can create all the space he needs to run into and that’s what Arsenal are best at.
“In fact, I’d be staking on Mudryk to score every game he plays.”
Some Red Devils supporters were quick to thank Chelsea boss Graham Potter for signing Mudryk for the Pensioners.
Had he not have done, the wideman could have been set to feature for Arsenal against the Red Devils on Sunday.
“We could have been playing against Mudryk tomorrow bro,” wrote @Imperator_Faora. “Thank you so much Potter.”
