Commentary

That's all for today, goodbye!
Feyenoord will be happy to take a 1-0 lead into the second leg next week and continue their impressive home record. Mourinho's main concern will be the severity of Dybala and Abraham's injuries, but he will be confident his side can overturn the scoreline at home. Feyenoord face Cambuur in Eredivisie before the second leg while Roma host Udinese in Serie A.
The first half played out the way most fans would have expected it to. Roma sat back and soaked up the pressure while trying to counter Feyenoord. The hosts had 60 per cent of possession in the first period but could not test Patricio in goal. Pellegrini had the best chance of the opening 45 minutes as a handball from Wieffer gave the visitors a penalty, but the Roma captain hit the left post as it was goalless heading into the break. Feyenoord took just nine minutes to score in the second period as Wieffer volleyed the ball home from 25 yards out. Idrissi picked him out with a cross and the midfielder left Patricio with no chance as he found the bottom corner. Roma came close to an equaliser when Ibanez’s header was cleared off the line and onto the crossbar by Idrissi, but the Dutch side managed to seal a 1-0 win.
