8th Finals
UEFA Europa League

That's all for tonight. Thank you for joining us!
With Real Madrid drawing with Shakhtar, Leipzig leapfrog ahead of the Ukrainian side to second in the group with six points. They will hope that their hard-fought win today at a hostile Celtic Park will help kick off their momentum and ensure that they qualify from this group.
Celtic have been knocked out of the Champions League. They will look back with regret, as the home side had multiple opportunities to score, but the poor finishing let them down. Postecoglou's substitutes were also questionable and made no real impact on the match. Leipzig were not at their best, but there was quality in possession, and the team was clinical when it mattered most.
J. Juranović
Yellow Card
90' + 1' Juranovic gets booked for a foul. Pretty unnecessary, given the score and the time left.
90' + 1' Postecoglou stares off into the distance. It's a disappointing result for his side tonight, and fans will have questions.
90' We're getting three minutes of added time.
Hugo Novoa
C. Nkunku
88' Nkunku's night is done as he comes off for Novoa.
88' Celtic have lost each of their last six home games in the UEFA Champions League – if they lose this match, they would equal the longest run of home defeats by a team in the competition, previously set by Monaco between May 2017 and December 2018 (7).
A. Diallo
A. Haidara
84' Haidara comes off for Diallo.
E. Forsberg
84' IT'S TWOOOOOO! Celtic 0-2 RB Leipzig. A cross-field pass to Werner cuts through half of Celtic's team. The German striker holds on to the ball for a second before laying it off to Forsberg, who takes a couple of touches to move forward and shoots it into the top corner. You can hear a pin drop in the stadium as the Celtic fans are stunned to silence.
T. Werner
84' That's a goal and an assist for Werner tonight.
A. Bernabei
D. Maeda
80' Bernabei comes on for Maeda as Celtic look to get back in this.
78' Celtic try to respond quickly but O'Riley's shot is right to Blaswich.
B. Henrichs
M. Simakan
76' Simakan comes off for Henrichs.
E. Forsberg
D. Szoboszlai
76' Szoboszlai makes way for Forsberg.
Y. Poulsen
André Silva
76' Rose wastes no time making subs after the goal. First, Poulsen comes on for Silva.
André Silva
75' The combination on the left was really well worked. Silva has been creating all game and his skilful flick is perfect for Werner.
T. Werner
75' GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL!! THE DEADLOCK IS BROKEN. Celtic 0-1 RB Leipzig! From the left, the ball comes in, and Werner's long-range header soars into the back of the net! It's truly a FANTASTIC header from a player who has been relatively poor all game.
73' The decision is made quickly. No penalty!
73' Do we have a possible penalty here? Nkuku runs onto the ball into the box, and Hart comes in and trips him with his arms. VAR is taking a look...
68' The Celtic fans are not happy! They moan loudly as Maeda crosses the ball to absolutely no one in the box. Sums up the home side's night, really.
D. Turnbull
S. Hakšabanović
66' Celtic's third sub is Turnbull coming on for Hatate.
G. Giakoumakis
K. Furuhashi
66' Postecoglou has decided that he's seen enough and makes some changes. First up, Kyogo comes off for Giakoumakis.
59' Ouch! They win the ball back in midfield, and Nkuku gets it to Szoboszlai, but the forward slips and falls hard before he can do anything with the ball. He rubs his back for a moment before he gets back up.
56' Rose is getting frustrated on the touchline despite his team being well on top in this half. His side need to capitalise on this complacent Celtic team right now.
52' Celtic can barely get into Leipzig's half, and when they do, they can't control the ball. Kyogo has an opportunity to start an attack, but his decision-making is poor, and he loses possession.
49' HUGE CHANCE FOR RB LEIPZIG! After some good passing from the visitors, Orban comes into the box from the right and shoots, but Hart manages to trap the ball between his legs to deny him!
48' Celtic have only kept one clean sheet in their last 23 matches in major European competition, winning 2-0 against Ferencvaros in October 2021 in the UEFA Europa League. They’ve shipped 55 goals across those matches, including seven this season.
46' We are back for the second half!
With Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk also drawing 0-0, it is a big 45 minutes for both Celtic and RB Leipzig. The two teams are occupying the bottom two places in the group and need a win tonight to better their chances of advancing to the round of 16.
The issue that Celtic have had all season in the Champions League continues: they just cannot finish. They had multiple chances in the first half to open up the scoring, but they just can't get the ball in the back of the net. Postecoglou was particularly shocked that Kyogo's header in the 29th minute wasn't even on target.
45' + 1' BIG SAVE! Nkunku takes the shot, but Hart punches the ball over the bar to keep his side in it just on the brink of half-time.
45' There will be two minutes of added time.
J. Forrest
L. Abada
42' Celtic were playing with 10 men for a few moments as Abada seems to have hit his knee against Raum. He comes back on the pitch but only for a second before telling the coaching staff that he can't continue. He comes off for Forrest.
37' Raum gets a cross in but the ball is nowhere near any of his teammates and it fizzles past the far post.
R. Hatate
Yellow Card
34' The intensity has gone down a bit as Hatate gets booked for a foul on Schlager.
29' Another chance for Celtic. A cross comes in for Kyogo who jumps up to connect. His header goes over Blaswich, but it dips too late, just going over the target.
27' HOW IS IT NOT 1-0?! Celtic hit the post and then the crossbar! From a corner, O'Riley receives the ball, and he takes a low shout from far out that clatters against the post. Taylor attempts to make the most of the rebound, but it smashes against the crossbar. How unlucky!
24' Celtic now enjoying the ball, but they're simply passing it around the back, not finding much space. Leipzig are doing extremely well in pushing them back into their own half.
20' Twenty minutes have gone by, and Leipzig have had 71.7% possession so far.
15' CLOSE! A perfect through ball is threaded from Haidara to Werner, but the German striker is a touch too slow to get to the ball as Celtic win it back.
13' After a long spell of possession for the visitors, Celtic counter, and they have the chance to catch out Leipzig's backline, but Abada's touch is poor as he can't sort out his feet. Moments later, Leipzig are on the other end as Haidara attempts a shot that's blocked.
8' CHANCE FOR LEIPZIG! Szoboszlai receives the ball at the far post and goes for the volley. It connects, but he doesn't test Hart.
5' The first corner of the match goes to Leipzig. Werner sends it in, but no player is able to get anything on it as it skips past to the other side of the pitch.
4' Loud whistles from the home fans as RB Leipzig pass it around. The match goers are certainly making sure the atmosphere is as hostile as possible!
1' A CHANCE FROM THE GET-GO FOR CELTIC! The home side is wasting no time tonight. After some great passing between Leipzig's lines, a cross comes in for Maeda. He's wide open for the header, but he sends it well off-target. Good start already!
1' The referee has blown the whistle, and we're underway!
The teams are out, and the match will be starting momentarily!
No side has had more high turnovers ending with a shot than Celtic in the UEFA Champions League this season (8), although none of those have then led to a goal.
Like their opponents, Leipzig captain Peter Gulacsi is out tonight, with Blaswich starting in his place. Lukas Klostermann, Konrad Laimer, and Dani Olmo are also unavailable. Nkunku and Silva, who scored against Celtic last week, start up top for Marco Rose's side alongside Werner and Szoboszlai.
Celtic captain Callum McGregor is not in the squad tonight as he suffered a knee injury that will sideline him until next month. The biggest question ahead of this match was whether Jota would be fit to play, a decision that Ange Postecoglou said he'd make on the day of. It looks like the Portuguese failed his fitness test, and he also misses out today.
