UEFA Champions League
UEFA Europa League
UEFA Conference League Qualifiers

That's all from us, we hope you enjoyed the game. Until the next one, goodbye!
A 0-0 draw certainly isn't the start Barcelona would've wanted to their season, particularly given they've equalled a record of not scoring in three consecutive league games that stretches back to 2003. For both sides tough, it's far too early to tell how they'll do throughout the season, but given the resolve Rayo showed again Barca's attack all game long, they'll be one tough nut to crack for many a team facing the Vallecanes.
Ciss was sublime in midfield for Rayo, holding his own against Barca's attack and winning possession eight times via six tackles, three clearances and three blocks. With the ball, he had more touches and successful passes than any other Rayo player, and engaged in 17 duels. General.
It's all over, and Rayo Vallecano hold their nerve to keep out a star-studded Barcelona side for well over 90 minutes! It was one-way traffic at times in that half, with Barca being unsuccessful with chance after chance, and becoming increasingly frustrated, culminating in the dismissal of Busquets. Rayo had opportunities here and there though, and were denied a late snatch-and-grab by the offside flag, in what was a very entertaining game!
90' + 8' Salvi attempts to cut inside Garcia but is barreled over by the Barca defender on his way through, meaning Rayo have a late, late crossing chance into the hosts' box!
90' + 7' WIDE!!! Busquets' dismissal has left Barca wide open in midfield, and Ciss powers through acres of space before firing a low shot from 35 yards, which flies wide of Ter Stegen's left post!
90' + 5' BALL IN THE NET!!!! So close for Rayo!!! Valentin and Fran Garcia link up, allowing the latter to cross for Ciss. He scuffs his effort, but Alvaro Garcia follows in with a shot that Ter Stegen can only palm into Falcao's path and he stabs it home! The players wheel away to celebrate, but are met by a raised offside flag from the linesman, meaning that potential late winner is chalked off!
90' + 3' HE'S OFF!!! Busquets loses out to Falcao on the edge of the Barca box, and catches the Rayo striker with an elbow and is shown a second yellow card!!! In what's been a massively frustrating match for Barca, things get even worse as their captain heads down the tunnel!
90' + 1' We're into EIGHT minutes of added time, and can Barcelona finally find a way to win this game?
S. Dimitrievski
Yellow Card
89' Dimitrievski takes an age to take the resultant free-kick, and after plenty of time has passed, he's shown a yellow card by the referee for time wasting!
88' BALL IN THE NET!!! Kessie races onto Garcia's long ball and tees up Fati to shoot. He does so, but it's parried by Dimitrievski and Kessie smashes in the rebound!!! The flag's up though, and for the second time in the match Barca have a goal that won't count!
87' Fati steps up to take the free-kick, but can only send it over the crossbar!
P. Ciss
Yellow Card
86' Barca flood forward in numbers, with Lewandowski leading the charge, but he's pulled back by Ciss in the most tactical of tactical fouls, and the Rayo midfielder is penalised and booked.
84' CHANCE!!!! A byline cross from Lewandowski finds Aubameyang, whose curling shot is blocked off the line by Lejeune! Lewandowski follows in, but can't direct his first-time effort on target and it goes wide!
José Ángel Pozo
Ó. Trejo
84' Rayo captain Trejo comes off, and is replaced by Jose Angel Pozo.
P. Aubameyang
Jordi Alba
82' Alba is the next off for Barca, and in his place are attacking reinforcements in the form of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
82' WIDE!!!! De Jogn picks Ciss' pocket and feeds Lewandowski in the boix, who is shown onto his left foot and fires just inches wide of the post!
81' After a good spell for Rayo, Barca break as Fati races clear. He finds Dembele wide to the right, but his cross for De Jong sees the midfielder crowded out and the chance is wasted!
Isi Palazón
79' Palazon is down in the Barca box having picked up a muscle injury, and Salvi Sanchez will come on in the Rayo winger's place.
77' Busquets has, unsurprisingly, been instrumental for his side in the middle of the park. He's made a team-high 33 passes in Rayo's half, as well as being involved in 15 duels. Seven of these came aerially, and he's also won possession eight times for Barca, including four fouls.
75' Shouts for a penalty from the home fans, after De Jong strides into the box. He finds Lewandowski crowded on the penalty spot, and he looks to turn before going down under pressure from Ciss! The referee waves away any claims though, and it's play on!
Sergio Busquets
Yellow Card
74' Busquets is all over Trejo as the Rayo captain looks to advance over halfway, and his pulling back of the Argentinian sees him booked by the referee.
F. Kessie
73' Barca make another change, with Pedri coming off for Franck Kessie to make his debut for the Blaugrana.
71' The players once more head to the sideline, for the cooling break midway through this second half.
R. Falcao
Yellow Card
69' Busquets is again in the thick of things, being caught late by Falcao and winning a free-kick in a good position for Barca. Falcao is booked for the foul.
69' SAVED!!!! After Lewandowski has a shot blocked on the edge of the box, Busquets picks up the loose ball and hits a firecracker of an effort towards goal, that Dimitrievski has to really stretch for to keep out of the top corner!
67' Barca's dominance has only increased in the secod half, with the Blaugrana managing 68.4 per cent possession, as well as twelve shots, with four on target. The hosts have won seven corner too, whilst Rayo are yet to take one of their own.
65' SAVED!!! Barca break at speed as Dembele cuts inside towards goal. He finds Fati, who fires a shot towards the corner that is parried away by Dimitrievski!
64' After De Jong is felled in the box and the ball cleared, Barca recylce possession well, culminating in Dembele crossing for Fati and Valentin being rushed into a clearance into touch!
Óscar Valentín
Unai López
62' Lopez also comes off, with Oscar Valentin replacing him in midfield.
R. Falcao
Sergio Camello
62' Rayo also make some alterations, with Camello replaced by one Radamel Falcao up front for the visitors.
Ansu Fati
60' Raphinha's threatened significantly in his first Barcelona outing, but he's withdrawn now for Ansu Fati.
Sergi Roberto
A. Christensen
60' Christensen's debut comes to an end, replaced in defence by Sergi Roberto.
F. de Jong
60' Xavi rings the changes for Barca, the first of which sees Gavi come off for Frenkie de Jong.
59' 22 different players scored for Barcelona in La Liga during 2021/22, setting the record for the most different goalscorers of any team in a single season of the competition in the 21st century (Real Madrid had 21 in 2019/20).
57' Barca again break quickly down the left, through Raphinha, whose low cross is put behnd for a corner by a sliding Lejeune.
55' Dembele's corner is headed out as far as Raphinha, and he volleys back towards goal, but skews it wide of the target!
F. Lejeune
Yellow Card
54' Lewandowski steals the ball off Lejeune and looks to race down the left wing, but Lejeune pulls him back by his shirt, and is penalised and yellow carded by the referee!
54' CHANCE!!! Raphinha's low driven cross causes havoc in the Vallecano box, with Lewandowski, Catena and Dimitrievski all colliding before the goalkeeper eventually gets two hands on the ball!
53' Lopez clips Busquets as the two contest a loose ball on halfway, and the Barca captain wins another free-kick for his side.
51' WIDE!!! A glorious chance for Rayo as Camello is put into space. He beats Alba and rounds Ter Stegen, but his lobbed finish skews across the face of goal and wide of the far post!
49' Trejo and Busquets have another coming together, and the booked Rayo captain is again penalised by the referee.
47' Raphinha stands over a corner, but play is halted after a collision between Busquets and Dimitrievski in the goalmouth!
46' Lewandowski kicks off, and we're back underway at Camp Nou!
The two sides head back out onto the pitch, and can Barcelona make their dominance count in the second half?
Barca's success so far has come out wide, with Dembele in particular excelling. He's had two shots on target from three attempts, as well as producing three key passes and two crosses. Raphinha has also impressed, but the pair will need to find a more accurate final ball if they, or Lewandowski, are to succeed in breaking the deadlock.
The first half ends, with everyone inside the Camp Nou wondering how Barcelona are still yet to score! The Blaugrana have had a plethora of chances to open the scoring, but have so far been denied by the Rayo rearguard! Barca's front three are in the mood for goals, but need to be more clinical if they're to get past this very well-organised defence from the visitors.
Yellow Card
45' + 5' Catena catches Lewandowski late and shoves the Barca forward to the ground, warranting a free-kick and yellow card from the referee.
45' + 3' Raphinha slides in to win the ball on the edge of Rayo's box, and beats two on his way towards goal before Ciss nudges the ball out of play, granting Barca a corner!
45' + 2' SAVED!!! An optimistic ball over the top finds Alvaro Garcia on the fly, and the winger surges into the box before cutting inside and forcing a good save from Ter Stegen!
45' + 1' We're into five minutes of added time to close out the first half.
Ó. Trejo
Yellow Card
45' Pedri looks to turn and spark a Barcelona break, but Trejo's all over him and brings him down cynically to say the least. The Rayo captain is shown a yellow card for his troubles.
45' Balliu outmuscles Alba and races towards the byline. He cuts the ball back from Palazon, but it's a poor pass that Garcia can intercept for the Blaugrana!
43' Fran Garcia looks to release Palazon into space with a cross-field pass, but it's poorly executed and intercepted by Alba, preventing a potential counter-attack.
41' Busquets releases Lewandowski down the middle, but Dimitrievski has it covered and smothers the ball when it reaches his box.
39' Lewandowski, making his Barca debut, has scored in his first game of the season in each of his last seven Bundesliga campaigns, netting a total of 10 goals in these matches.
37' Raphinha jinks inside from the right and places a cross onto the head of Lewandowski, but he can only glance his effort over the bar!
36' WIDE!!! Dembele cuts inside again, and tees up Pedri on the edge of the box. He looks to place his first-time effort in the bottom corner, but it curls just inches around the outside of the post!!
35' SAVED!!! Good play from Barca, as Pedri glides forward before feeding Gavi. He finds Dembele in space on the right, and he cuts inside the defender before firing a low effort which is held by Dimitrievski!
33' Barcelona are winless in their last two league matches, failing to score in both, and have not gone three in a row without scoring in the top-flight since October 2003.
31' Busquets hacks down Palazon inside Barca's half, giving the visitors a good chance to get the ball into the box.
29' We're back underway at Camp Nou following the cooling break.
28' The two sides head to the sideline for a quick cooling break, and given they've been all over Rayo in the last few minutes, perhaps this short break will aid them in being a touch more clinical as they search for an opener.
26' Pedri drives towards goal and looks to link up with his forward line, but he's felled by Trejo on the edge of the box and Barca win a free-kick.
24' Gavi floats a cross towards the six-yard box, and Lewandowski is just inches away from connecting with an attempted goalbound header!
22' Raphinha and Dembele combine once more, with the Brazilian cutting the ball back to Dembele this time, but his eventual shot is blocked by Lejeune!
21' SAVED!!! Lewandowski feeds Dembele, who shoots low on the angle, but Dimitrievski holds the effort at his near post!
20' OVER!!! Busquets finds Dembele in space, and the Frenchman cuts the ball back to the edge of the box to Raphinha, who can only blaze his first-time effort over the bar!
19' Barcelona lost their last home game in La Liga against Rayo Vallecano, having won the previous seven league matches at home to the Madrid-based side.
17' Raphinha is once more put into space down the right, and the ex-Leeds United man drags a shot just wide of Dimitrievski's goal before he's flagged for offside.
16' Raphinha gets into space and takes on Fran Garcia again, but the Rayo left-back stands his ground and wins possession as the Barca winger cuts inside.
O. Dembélé
Yellow Card
14' Dembele barges into Ciss and up-ends the Rayo midfielder inside his own box, with the unnecessary challenge warranting a yellow card from the referee.
12' BALL IN THE NET!!! Dembele turns and puts Lewandowski through on goal, and the striker chips the keeper, and Lejeune can't keep it out!! Lewandowski wheels away to celebrate, but the flag's up, meaning his goal won't count!
12' BLOCKED!!! Barca break at pace as Lewandowski feeds Raphinha. He cuts inside and looks to shoot low from inside the box, but Catena gets in the way!
10' Big shouts for a penalty after Raphinha glides past Fran Garcia and is taken down in the box! The referee isn't budged though, and play will continue.
9' A good start from Barca, who have looked promising in the wide channels so far. Lewandowski's not seen much of the ball though, so they'll need to improve in the middle of the pitch if they're to provide him with some ammunition - not that he needs much to be deadly.
7' Barcelona have lost their last two La Liga games against Rayo Vallecano without scoring a goal – only once have they lost three in a row without scoring against an opponent in their top-flight history, doing so against Real Madrid in 1958.
5' Ter Stegen's long ball forward has Raphinha steaming after it, but Dimitrievski's there to gather the bouncing ball before the Brazilian can pounce.
3' Barcelona have won their opening fixture in 12 of the last 13 La Liga campaigns, while Rayo Vallecano have not won in any of their last four campaigns in the top-flight, losing the last two.
1' Camello kicks off for Rayo, and we're underway in Catalonia!
The two sides are out on the pitch at Camp Nou, and we're ready and raring to go ahead of kick-off!
Rayo’s XI also features a litter of new arrivals, with loanees Florian Lejeune and Sergio Camello starting in the middle of Los Vallecanos’ defence and attack respectively. La Masia product Ivan Balliu starts at right-back.
Barca’s registration of their summer acquisitions has been approved by La Liga at the 11th hour, meaning several will make their competitive debuts for the Blaugrana in this game. Three of them start, with Andreas Christensen, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski all in the XI, whilst Franck Kessie is on the bench, but Jules Kounde’s contract is still in limbo, having not been registered with the league in time for this season opener.

Rayo finished a respectable 12th in the table last season following promotion in 2020-21, and Andoni Iraola’s side will be hoping to build on their mid-table finish in this campaign, although they couldn’t have asked for a tougher start.
Following a trophy-less season in 2021-22, the Blaugrana have made a number of high-profile, but controversial, summer signings, in the hope of returning to the top of the tree in both La Liga and the Champions League, both of which were won by Real Madrid last season.
Hello, and welcome to live coverage of this match on the opening weekend of the 2022-23 La Liga season, as Barcelona face Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou.
