6:05 pm AEDT 22/11/21
Njabulo Ngcobo, Kaizer Chiefs, September 2021
Amakhosi claimed a narrow 1-0 win over the Team of Choice in a PSL encounter on Sunday night

GOAL rates the performances of the Amakhosi players following the match which was played at Harry Gwala Stadium

  • Daniel Akpeyi, Kaizer Chiefs

    Daniel Akpeyi - 7/10

The reason why Chiefs won the game.

Akpeyi was the busier of the two goalkeepers and he stood firm, making fine saves to keep the hosts at bay in both halves.

  • Kaizer Chiefs, Ramahle Mphahlele

    Ramahlwe Mphahlele - 6/10

Made his first appearance of the current season.

Mphahlele looked solid defensively and he made his forward runs, but he lacked end product with his crosses.

  • Reeve Frosler, Kaizer Chiefs, November 2020

    Reeve Frosler - 6/10

Also played well on his return to the starting line-up.

Frosler produced a strong defensive performance, but he also didn't offer much going forward when he overlapped.

  • Daniel Cardoso, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2021

    Daniel Cardoso - 6/10

Played some nice forward passes and looked good on the ball.

However, Cardoso looked suspect in defence at times when Chiefs were under pressure.

  • Erick Mathoho, Kaizer Chiefs, September 2021

    Erick Mathoho - 7/10

An improved performance by the experienced centre back.

Mathoho was positionally sound, and read the game brilliantly, making some well-timed clearances and interceptions at the back.

  • Njabulo Ngcobo

    Njabulo Ngcobo - 8/10

Outstanding in his role as a defensive midfielder.

Ngcobo made crucial recoveries and accurate distributions, while making great tackles when Maritzburg countered two-on-one.

    Named Man of the Match.

  • Phathuthsedzo Nange of Kaizer Chiefs

    Phathutshezo Nange - 6/10

Endured a slow start to the game.

Nange struggled to get into the game early on, but he soon grew into it to positively impact Amakhosi's display until he was substituted.

  • Cole Alexander, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2021

    Cole Alexander - 5/10

A disappointing performance by the experienced midfield maestro.

Alexander was caught out in possession a few times and he also looked shaky defensively when the hosts upped the ante.

  • Khama Billiat, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2021

    Khama Billiat - 7/10

Best Chiefs attacker on the night.

Billiat was adventurous, direct and pacy which made him a thorn for Maritzburg and he grabbed an assist.

  • Keagan Dolly of Kaizer Chiefs.

    Keagan Dolly - 6/10

Not at his best against the Team of Choice.

Dolly looked to link up with Billiat, though with mixed results and he was substituted in the closing stages of the game.

  • Bernard Parker of Kaizer Chiefs.

    Bernard Parker - 6,5/10

Tried to be a menacing presence down the right.

Parker was dispossessed far too easily at times, but he took his goal very well when he headed home Billiat's header.

  • Kgaogelo Sekgota Kaizer Chiefs

    Kgaogelo Sekgota - 5/10

Came on in the 75th minute and could not make the impact he would have hoped for with Maritzburg dominating possession and Chiefs defending.

  • Anthony Akumu Ajay, Kaizer Chiefs, December 2020

    Anthony Akumu - 6/10

Introduced in the 83rd minute and he made some well-timed tackles as he protected the Amakhosi defence.

  • Leonardo Castro, Kaizer Chiefs, December 2020

    Leonardo Castro - N/A

He came on too late to make any impact having been introduced in the 86th minute.
