The home side were lacking in purpose for most of the evening and didn't do much to trouble the Durban team's defence

Not many of the Kaizer Chiefs players were anywhere near their best in the 1-1 league draw with AmaZulu at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening.

  • Daniel Akpeyi

    GOALKEEPER: Daniel Akpeyi - 6

Wasn't at fault for the goal and otherwise had a fairly quiet game - the exception being the excellent close range save he made on an Andre de Jong shot late in the contest.

  • Njabulo Blom kaizer Chiefs

    RIGHT-BACK: Njabulo Blom - 7

Looked rusty early on but then showed his class with some great interplay with Dolly which led to the opening goal. Got a couple of good crosses in as well.

  • Daniel Cardoso, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2021

    CENTRE-BACK: Daniel Cardoso - 5

Still not inspiring much confidence, Cardoso had a reasonable enough game, but should have cut out the cross which led to the AmaZulu equaliser.

  • Erick Mathoho Daniel Cardoso Bruce Bvuma

    CENTRE-BACK: Erick Mathoho - 6

For the most part he shielded Akpeyi quite well, but could have gotten tighter to Bongi Ntuli for the Usuthu goal.

  • Reeve Frosler, Kaizer Chiefs, November 2021

    LEFT-BACK: Reeve Frosler - 5

Made an early foul which gave AmaZulu a free kick right on the edge of the box and then had his game ended prematurely through injury after only 24 minutes.

  • Njabulo Ngcobo, Kaizer Chiefs, September 2021

    CENTRE-MID: Njabulo Ngcobo - 6

Worked hard, kept things ticking over, but it's debatable as to whether Chiefs need Ngcobo as the third of three defensive central midfielders.

  • Cole Alexander, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2021

    CENTRE-MID: Cole Alexander - 4

Alexander was booked just before half-time for a foul on Siyethemba Sithebe and then after a clumsy challenge on Thabo Qalinge, the Capetonian received a second yellow card and was sent off. Both fouls were unnecessary and he may feel he cost Amakhosi maximum points.

  • Phathutshedzo Nange, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2021

    CENTRE-MID: Phathutshedzo Nange - 6

Taken off in the 65th minute for Anthony Agay after not having offered much thrust in the engine room.

  • Keagan Dolly Kaizer Chiefs Tercious Malepe AmaZulu

RIGHT WING: Keagan Dolly - 7

It was Dolly's measured cross which led to the own goal from Keagan Buchanan. The Bafana Bafana playmaker was the driving force at the heart of most of Chiefs' best attacking moves.

  • Kgaogelo Sekgota

LEFT WING: Kgaogelo Sekgota - 6

Started with real purpose and made some dangerous runs, including one which led to the own goal. Unlucky that a second half cross for Dolly didn't lead to a goal and was otherwise proactive and forward-thinking.

  • Bernard Parker, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2021

    STRIKER: Bernard Parker - 6

Had some neat touches and looked bright and confident, but never looked likely to score. Parker was replaced by Lebo Manyama in the 80th minute.

  • Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Kaizer Chiefs, August 2021

    SUBSTITUTE: Ramahlwe Mphahlele - 5

Came on at left-back after Frosler was injured in the 25th minute. Did okay but it was from his position that a couple of dangerous crosses were delivered by AmaZulu substitute Andre de Jong, one of which led to the equaliser.

  • Anthony Agay

    SUBSTITUTE: Anthony Agay - 5

The Kenyan replaced Nange in the 65th minute but didn't make much of an impact.

  • Lebogang Manyama, Kaizer Chiefs, September 2021

    SUBSTITUTE: Lebogang Manyama - 5

Had a decent effort from a free kick, but wasn't able to affect the game much after he came on in the 80th minute.

  • Kagiso Malinga, Swallows FC & Kearyn Baccus, Kaizer Chiefs, May 2021

    SUBSTITUTE: Kearyn Baccus - 5

Replaced Dolly in the 80th minute, but didn't influence the game.
