    Former England and Chelsea centre-back John Terry led his Nigeria Professional Football League side named Smooth FC to warm up before the novelty encounter.

    While warming up with his team named Smooth FC, the Brazil football legend made a brief stop to acknowledge cheers from Lagos football fans chanting his name.

    Carlos was part of the Selecao U23 team that lost to Nigeria in the semi-final of the 1996 Olympics Games staged in the United States of America.

    The atmosphere was electrifying as top Nigerian music stars added glamour to the historic novelty encounter.

    Before kick-off, some selected youths from across Lagos State took part in callisthenics displays, to the delight of the fans at the Mobolaji John Arena.

    John Terry’s Kings FC dominated ball possession and were asking all the questions.

    They went close to scoring through Tosin Omoyele and Silas Nwankwo. However, goalkeeper Stanley Nwabili averted danger by making some great saves.

    On the other hand, Roberto Carlos’ Smooth FC appeared to be holding back and relying on counter-attacks.

    Both teams went straight down the tunnel. Roberto Carlos was not impressed with what he saw.

    It was very much dilly ding, dilly dang more than dilly dong as Terry's Kings FC dominated but had no goals to show for it.

    Ikechukwu Ezenwa dived to block out a low driven attempt by Olasupo Samson from the right side of the area with his leg. It was a surging run by the forward and showed some rare intent from the Smooth FC attack.

    It ended 0-0 and the winner was decided by kicks from the penalty mark. Despite the lack of goals, the fans were excited seeing their football icons live in action

    Roberto Carlos' Smooth FC emerged as champions after saving two penalty kicks. For Terry's team, they rued their ability to convert their chances.

    Although Kings FC ended up on the losing side, that did not stop them from applauding the teeming Lagos fans for their presence and support from start to finish.
