Leeds commit to interim manager Skubala

2023-02-14T18:00:00.000Z

Leeds United have confirmed that they will continue with interim boss Michael Skubala for the club's upcoming fixtures, following the sacking of Jesse Marsch eight days ago.

Assistant coaches Paco Gallardo and Chris Aramas will also remain in charge, as well as the existing backroom team.

The move comes after the Whites struggled to land a host of potential replacements, including West Brom's Carlos Corberan and Rayo Vallecano's Andoni Iraola, among others, with Marsch set to be announced as Southampton boss later this week.

Spurs eyeing Bounou & Oblak as Lloris replacements

2023-02-14T16:30:20.000Z

Tottenham have earmarked Sevilla's Yassine Bounou to succeed 36-year-old Hugo Lloris in goal, as the Morocco international is reportedly favoured by Antonio Conte.

That's according to British agent Haydn Dodge, who also feels that Spurs' relationship with Atletico Madrid could also aid a move for experienced 'keeper Jan Oblak.

“A change of goalkeeper [at Spurs] is inevitable," Dodge told CaughtOffside in an exclusive interview. “Hugo Lloris is 36 years old and with inconsistencies and injuries creeping into his game, Spurs have already started looking for a new number one.

“I know Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou is right at the top of their list so I expect them to try and do something there in the summer. I’d also expect Jan Oblak to come into the picture considering Spurs’ strong relationship with Atletico Madrid."

Barca made January offer for Brazil U20 star

2023-02-14T16:00:00.000Z

Barcelona made a formal offer for Athletico Paranaense forward Vitor Roque in January, who recently shone at the U20 South American under-20 Championships earlier this year for Brazil.

The player's agent, Andre Cury, confirmed the offer to Globe Esporte (via Catalan outlet MD), explaining: “There was already a proposal, but it was rejected. We got more or less a value of €25m, and we immediately rejected it, because I understand that the player has a higher value than that, because even in Brazil some players are being sold for €20m.”

Roque is reportedly seen as a long-term solution for 34-year-old Robert Lewandowski at Barca, although they may face competition from Premier League giants Arsenal, who are thought to the unnamed English club that made an offer.

Arsenal could sign Rice for a cut-price

2023-02-14T13:30:00.000Z

Arsenal can get the opportunity to sign West Ham captain Declan Rice for a much lower price than the one suggested by David Moyes, according to Daily Express.

His current deal expires in 2024, and though West Ham do have the option to extend it by a further year, the player is not keen to trigger the extension.

“Undoubtedly he’s going to be a top player and undoubtedly he'll be a British transfer record and more whenever he leaves West Ham,” Moyes said after his side’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle. "A lot's been said about it and when you see what's been happening with prices, I think Declan will be blowing that out the water when it comes around."

It is thought that Connor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, whose deals expire in 2025 and 2024 respectively, could be sold to facilitate a move for the England international.

Rice's ties with the Blues are no secret having come through the ranks in west London, meaning a return to his boyhood club has long been mooted.

However, Todd Boehly and the Chelsea hierarchy will face stiff competition for the 24-year-old's signature, most notably from league leaders Arsenal.
