Chelsea transfer news and rumours today: Blues told to shell out £45m to sign Cole Palmer from Manchester City

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City want a fee of around £45m to part with Cole Palmer this summer amidst interest from Chelsea. The Blues are in the market for another attacker and while they have created a ten-man shortlist, reports have indicated that Palmer is their top target.

Romano has reported that the 21-year-old is open to swapping the Etihad Stadium for Stamford Bridge especially with Chelsea very keen on signing him. The Italian journalist has further reported that negotiations are ongoing between the two parties with the Blues confident of getting their man.

As per 90min, Chelsea are seriously considering a move for Joao Felix with the Blues open to re-signing the Portuguese forward before the window closes. The 23-year-old spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on-loan at Stamford Bridge but wasn’t signed permanently. However, Felix is out of favour at Atletico Madrid and is set to leave the club, with the forward keen on signing for Barcelona.

But the Catalans’ financial issues have hindered any move although Fabrizio Romano has reported that they’re trying to find a way to sign the 23-year-old. Yet, Chelsea are back in the running as 90min has reported that Mauricio Pochettino wants the club to sign a versatile forward and Felix fits the bill.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have added Cole Palmer to their list of potential options and are set to open talks over a potential move with Manchester City. The youngster has been linked with an exit in the search for more game-time although no move has materialized yet. However, that could change as the Blues’ see Palmer as their best solution to their problems this summer.

The Stamford Bridge side are in the market for another attacker and Romano has reported that Palmer has shot to the top of their list of targets. So much so, that the Blues are set to open talks although the Italian journalist has reported that City are still on the fence over selling the 21-year-old.

TalkSPORT has reported that Bayern Munich have reportedly made inquiries into a potential move for Conor Gallagher before the window closes. The 23-year-old has been linked with an exit this summer although no move has materialized as of yet. Reports have indicated that the Blues are open to letting him leave although only for the right fee, something that hasn’t hit their table yet.

TalkSPORT has reported that the German giants are in talks over a move for Trevor Chalobah and made inquiries into a deal for Gallagher as well. The report has indicated that Thomas Tuchel is pushing the move for both players although the Bavarians have only made initial contact over a move.

As per the Daily Mail, Arsenal knocked back Chelsea’s move for attacker Emile Smith Rowe as the Gunners don’t want to sell to a direct competitor. The Blues are looking to sign another attacker before the window closes and reportedly have ten names on their shortlist. That does include Smith Rowe with the English international dropping down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium.

But while Arsenal don’t want to sell to Chelsea, the Daily Mail has reported that the Gunners are open to an offer that is above market value for the 23-year-old. However, the chances of an offer like that are very minimal as the Blues do have other options on their list. Not only that, while West Ham were linked with a move, the Hammers are yet to table an official offer for Smith Rowe.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have created a ten-man shortlist in their search to sign one more attacker before the window closes. The Blues’ have already brought in a lot of new faces this summer but Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that they plan on signing one more player. That comes after Christopher Nkunku’s injury and Pochettino confirmed that he wants another attacker.

Romano revealed that Michael Olise was their top target, but the Frenchman rejected a move to Stamford Bridge which has seen the Blues move on to other targets. That includes Ferran Torres, Raphinha, Emile Smith Rowe, Ryan Cherki, Bradley Barcola and five others on their list.

According to Sky Sports News, Romelu Lukaku is on his way to Italy in order to sign on loan for AS Roma. The Blues forward has been heavily linked with a move back to Italy this summer but rejected offers from both Inter and Juventus in favour of a move to AS Roma. That forced Chelsea’s hand as the London side wanted to let Lukaku leave permanently, something that didn’t appeal to Roma.

However, reports indicated that the Blues eventually reached an agreement with both Lukaku and the Giallorossi over a loan move. The 30-year-old has also taken a significant wage cut in order to make the move possible while Roma will pay Chelsea a loan fee of £8m.

The French international has five years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge but despite that, reports have indicated that Bayern are very keen on signing the defender. The Bavarians are set to lose Benjamin Pavard this summer and believe Chalobah is the right replacement.

Sky Sports News has reported that the club have only made initial contact to see if a deal for the 24-year-old is possible this summer although any final decision does rest with Chalobah. The Bavarians believe that they can convince the Frenchman to sign for them and are thus confident of reaching an agreement.

According to journalist Simon Philips, Chelsea are laying the groundwork over a potential move for Ivan Toney in January, with the Blues trying to jump the queue. The Belgian has been linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer, with serious interest from several Italian clubs. However, the Blues have found it tough to move the forward on as his wages have proved to be a major issue.

Yet despite that, reports have indicated that with the 30-year-old keen on signing for Roma, he has slashed his wages down to an affordable amount for the Giallorossi. Not only that, Romano has reported that the two parties have reached an agreement over €5m loan fee with no mandatory buy clause.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Football Italia), Romelu Lukaku has rejected a last-minute approach from Borussia Dortmund in favour of signing for AS Roma. The Belgian has been linked with an exit from Chelsea this summer but interest in him has been sparse. That was especially after he rejected moves to Inter and Juventus as the 30-year-old prefers signing for AS Roma.

So much so, that Corriere dello Sport has revealed that despite serious interest from Borussia Dortmund, Lukaku has snubbed the German giants for Jose Mourinho’s side. This comes in light of reports that talks are progressing well between the Giallorossi and Chelsea with Lukaku even willing to drop his near €20m per year salary to around €7.5m.

As per L’Equipe, Olympique Lyon have ruled out any move for Rayan Cherki this summer amidst interest from across Europe. The 20-year-old had a breakout 2022/23 season which has attracted attention from Chelsea, Newcastle United, and several other clubs. However, no move has materialized as of yet although Lyon have set a firm stance on the starlet.

L’Equipe has revealed that the club are unwilling to part with the 20-year-old this summer as they see him as an important part of their team. Not only that, this comes in light of Bradley Barcola’s potential move to PSG with negotiations between the two sides currently ongoing. The report has further indicated that Lyon are resigned to losing Barcola which has reinforced their stance on Cherki’s future.

According to Fichajes, Chelsea are plotting a potential move for Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong as they look for back-up for Reece James. The 22-year-old has thrived with the German side and has been linked with a move to England this summer although nothing has materialized. That could change before the window slams shut although Leverkusen are unwilling to part with the young star.

According to RMC Sport, Bradley Barcola has asked to leave Olympique Lyon this summer amidst interest from both Chelsea and PSG. The 20-year-old enjoyed a fruitful 2022/23 season in the Ligue 1 and it has seen him heavily linked with a move away. However, while the Blues have been linked with an interest, the Parisians are reportedly the front-runners although no move has materialized yet.

In an official statement, Nottingham Forest have confirmed that they have signed Andrey Santos on loan from Chelsea. The 19-year-old signed for the Blues’ last winter but has yet to make a first-team appearance for the club although he did impress during pre-season.

According to the Telegraph, Chelsea and AS Roma are in talks over a potential loan move for Romelu Lukaku after the Belgium forward rejected a move to Juventus. The 30-year-old has been linked with an exit but has already rejected moves to Inter Milan and Saudi Arabia. It has left Chelsea struggling to find suitors for the forward although Roma’s last-minute approach has changed things.

The Telegraph has reported that Lukaku’s late change over his preferred destination has forced Chelsea to change their plans as the Blues were never planning on loaning him. The club wanted a permanent move but the report has indicated that they will now let him leave on loan. Furthermore, Roma are in talks over the same although the Italian club are not expected to include an obligation to buy him.

As per Football London, Chelsea are in the running to sign Brennan Johnson this summer and are set to rival Tottenham’s move for the forward. The 22-year-old has been linked with an exit from Nottingham Forest this summer but the club has rejected approaches from Spurs as well as Brentford. But Chelsea wants to test their resolve as the Blues like Johnson and what he can offer.

Football London has reported that this move comes with Mauricio Pochettino’s backing as he wants the club to sign another attacker, especially after losing out on Michael Olise. According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea have joined the race for highly-rated teenage striker Dino Klapija this summer with Manchester United, AC Milan and RB Leipzig also interested. The 16-year-old’s performances for NK Kustosija and Croatia’s U17 squads has impressed many, with Leipzig considered to be the front-runners.

The 18-year-old was a highly-rated academy star for the Blues but reports indicated that the club were looking to sell him to comply with financial fair play rules.

That attracted interest from several suitors although the Magpies were always the front-runners. The two sides eventually reached an agreement over a £28m plus £7m fee for Hall although that will only be activated once the 18-year-old hits certain “performance-related criteria.”

According to Football Transfers, Chelsea are still in talks with Arsenal over a potential move for striker Folarin Balogun this summer. The 22-year-old has been highly sought after this summer after he indicated that he wanted to leave the Emirates Stadium in search of first-team football. As per the Evening Standard, Fulham face competition from both Everton and Nottingham Forest for Callum Hudson-Odoi despite having an agreement in place with the forward. The 22-year-old is desperate to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and has agreed terms with the Cottagers. But the move has stalled because Fulham and Chelsea are struggling to reach an agreement over a fee.

The Blues want around £8m for the winger, a fee that Fulham believe is too much for Hudson-Odoi although things could get complicated with Everton and Nottingham Forest interested. The two sides are keeping a close eye on proceedings and are waiting for their chance to hijack the move.

In an official statement, Galatasaray have confirmed that they have signed Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech on a season-long loan with an option to make the move permanent. The 30-year-old fell out of favour at Stamford Bridge and was linked with a move to both PSG and Al Nassr.

However, both deals fell through which allowed Galatasaray to swoop in and sign the Moroccan international. The Turkish side are set to pay Chelsea £3m in a loan fee and also have an obligation to make the move permanent for £2.5m.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea have opened talks with MLS side New England Revolution over a potential move for goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic. In an official statement, Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Romeo Lavia from Southampton and the Belgium midfielder has signed a seven-year contract with the Blues. The Stamford Bridge side have been desperately looking to add more depth in midfield after letting Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and a few others leave this summer.

In an official statement, Chelsea have confirmed that they have signed Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo in a move worth a British transfer record fee of around £115m. The 21-year-old was heavily linked with away from the Amex stadium this summer but was only set on signing for Chelsea.

However, it took the Blues a while to knock out an agreement with Brighton, as they had several bids for Caicedo rejected by the Seagulls. According to ESPN, Chelsea are reported readying an opening bid for Lyon wonderkid Rayan Cherki as they eye a replacement for Christian Pulisic. Pulisic is set to join AC Milan, with the USMNT midfielder currently undergoing the second-part of his medical with the Serie A giants.

And the Blues are already moving to replace Pulisic, with Cherki one of the top targets. Currently under a contract at Lyon until June 2025, the France U21 international is keen to join Chelsea, and is valued at around €40m by the Ligue 1 outfit. Montpellier goal-machine Elye Wahi is also on the London club's shortlist

AC Milan have lodged a new bid worth over €20m for Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic, according to The Athletic.

The offer is an improvement on their opening €14m offer last weekend, but does remains under Chelsea's £25m valuation for the USMNT winger, who has already agreed personal terms in principle with Milan.

Lyon tabled an offer worth €25m to sign the attacker over the weekend, but the player only wants AC Milan and Champions League football and will reject any approaches from the French outfit.

According to football.london, Chelsea re monitoring the situation of young French midfielder Rayan Cherki. The Lyon prodigy garnered massive attention for his performances in Ligue 1 and could sign for the Blues to replace the departing Mason Mount.

According to the Daily Express, Chelsea have accelerated their pursuit of Brighton's Moises Caicedo as they have reportedly agreed personal terms with the midfielder.

The Blues were recently joined by Manchester United in their pursuit of Caicedo but Pochettino's side might have leapfrogged their rivals having agreed personal terms with the Ecuadorian.

Brighton and Chelsea have worked out multiple deals since the last season and with the Seagulls interested in Gallagher, Colwill, and Broja, the Blues could swap players to reduce Caicedo's asking price of £100m.

Manchester United are set to submit a third offer of over £55m to acquire Chelsea attacking midfielder Mason Mount after their first two bids for the 24-year-old English star were rejected by the London-based club. The Red Devils submitted the latest offer of £50 million, including add-ons, for the UEFA Champions League winner.

According to a report from Football Insider, Chelsea are eager to get the deal for Brighton's Moises Caicedo over the line and are set to make an offer in excess of £80 million.

According to reports, Chelsea's Kalidou Koulibaly is attracting interest from Saudi Arabia. Saudi's PIF have contacted the defender, with the Senegalese open to the move as well.

The Sun has reported that Chelsea are plotting a swoop of Andre Onana and are looking to offer two players in an exchange deal with Inter Milan. Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to bring Onano to Stamford Bridge in the hopes of changing the situation at the club and is looking to offer Romelu Lukaku and  Kalidou Koulibaly in exchange for the shot-stopper.

Lukaku, who is on loan at Inter, has expressed his desire to continue with the Nerazzurri as he's not willing to return to the Premier League. While Inter have had a long-standing interest in Koulibaly who's had a below-par season with the Blues since his departure from Napoli.

With the Italian heavyweights vying for two Chelsea players, Pochettino could negotiate with Inter who are prepared to attach a heavy price tag on Andre Onana.

According to multiple reports, Illan Meslier is interested to join Chelsea next season but with the condition that the French goalkeeper will be awarded the starting position in the eleven at Stamford Bridge. The French goalkeeper had a staggering season but failed to help Leeds United from going down to the Championship.

Since then the Blues are monitoring his situation with Chelsea tipped to make a £30m swoop for the young goalkeeper. Although he would only agree to a transfer if his conditions are met.

Speaking to Foot Mercato, Meslier said: “If it is to go and be on the bench, I’m not interested in that. Chelsea chief Todd Boehly already faces the ardous task of offloading numerous players this summer. Another name has been added to the list, with Monaco's sporting director Paul Mitchell confirming that Malang Sarr is on his way back to Stamford Bridge.

The centre-back spent last season on loan at Monaco but the French giants have snubbed the opportunity to sign Sarr permanently. And with plenty of centre-backs already on Chelsea's books, the Blues will surely look to move the 24-year-old on.

Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic has agreed personal terms with Manchester City, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Croatia international's contract expires next year, and Chelsea are actively looking to offload players with have 12 months remaining on their deals instead of seeing them leave on a free transfer next summer.

Chelsea have stolen a march on Manchester United by opening talks to sign Neymar. That's according to Le10 Sport, who reports Todd Boehly & Co. have approached Paris Saint-Germain regarding a possible deal for the Brazilian winger.

PSG have identified Bernardo Silva as a priority signing, ahead of next season, with the potential departure of Neymar providing for finances to capture the Manchester City playmaker.

As per The Athletic, Chelsea have rejected a £15m bid from Burnley to sign promising left-back Ian Maatsen in the next transfer window.

The report states that Chelsea want more than £20m for the left-back.

According to Football Insider, Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo is ready to move to Chelsea in the summer should the two clubs come to an agreement.

According to Daniele Longo, Chelsea are keeping tabs on AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan and want to offer €60m for him.

However, as per Longo, AC Milan have no interest in selling him and are looking to improve his contract.

Amidst reports linking him to Inter Milan, The Athletic claims that Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah wants to fight for a place in the starting eleven under Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea are looking at a mass exodus of players this summer to help generate revenue, and Chalobah could reportedly be one of the players sold.

Chelsea have set an asking price of £20 million for left-back Ian Maatsen, according to reports in Evening Standard.

The academy product who was on loan at Burnley enjoyed a successful season and Burnley are keen on keeping him. The Dutchman has a year left on his contract and Chelsea could tie him to an extension before loaning him out again.

Chelsea have entered the race to sign Lionel Messi, Pablo Gravellone reports.

Newcastle United, Barcelona and Inter Miami are also interested in the Argentine icon but the Blues and Magpies are keen to bring him to the Premier League.
